In early October, a church in Littleton, Colorado, faced an unexpected crisis when a 2-inch main water line burst after hours, causing significant flooding throughout the facility. By the next morning, staff discovered approximately 16 inches of water in the building's lowest level, affecting the main hallways and the auditorium. The situation was so severe that the auditorium resembled a swimming pool, requiring immediate attention to prevent further damage and restore functionality to the space.
The incident occurred after hours on a Sunday night, creating a tight timeline to ensure the church could hold services the following Sunday. Additionally, the church's daycare operations needed to continue during the mitigation process, requiring careful containment measures to keep children safe. The building's unique underground HVAC system, which supplies air from beneath the sanctuary rather than from a traditional rooftop unit, was also completely flooded. This added another layer of complexity, as the system needed to be pumped out and cleaned to restore proper air circulation and maintain indoor air quality.
CRC's team quickly mobilized to address the extensive flooding. They began by extracting water from the affected areas, including the auditorium, hallways, and underground HVAC system. Specialized pumping equipment was used to remove water from the HVAC ducts, which were submerged due to the flooding. The team then conducted a thorough drying and sanitization process to prevent mold growth and ensure safe air quality.
Throughout the mitigation, CRC took extra precautions to secure the daycare area, implementing containment measures that allowed operations to continue safely. The team also ensured that walls and structural elements were temporarily protected until full reconstruction could begin.
CRC acted quickly and effectively, making sure the church was ready to hold Sunday services as planned. The daycare stayed open without any issues, and the building was made safe for everyone until it could be fully repaired. By responding fast and taking careful steps to fix the problem, CRC kept the church’s important activities running smoothly and ensured the safety of the community.
This success highlights CRC’s skill in handling emergencies. They stepped up to tackle a tough situation on a tight schedule, solving the problem and strengthening their reputation as a reliable and professional team you can count on in a crisis.
